Nearly 2,000 voters on
chopping block
Nearly 2,000 registered voters are in
danger of losing their right to vote in Pinellas County because election
officials are having trouble confirming their residence.
Under the state voter list
maintenance law, 1,198 Pinellas County voters were made inactive. Another
830 are being sent final address confirmation notices. Those who don't
respond face being made inactive. And, 126 first confirmation requests also
are being mailed.
Voters are declared inactive when they fail
to return an address confirmation notice. Voters who do not update
registration information, request absentee ballots or vote by the second
general election after being made inactive are removed from the statewide
system.
Pinellas County has 600,007
registered voters.
