Waiting for burnout
I have been patiently waiting since the late 1970's to have
my country and home burn up from global warming. I wanted to
see New York city under 20 feet of water. We would have our
own Venice right here on North America. I'm sad to report they
have moved all those spectacular events out until 2030 and
beyond.
Personally, I believe it is all a hoax. I am told I
must change my lifestyle to save the Earth. However, now, in
the same breath, I'm told that it is too late, we are doomed.
Which is it, people? We have a political party in
collusion with environmental wackos who have set out to
destroy our industrial might, our economy and our modern
lifestyle.
This crowd has been successful in stopping any new nuclear
power generating plants, few, if any, new clean coal power
plants, no new refineries, and severe restriction on drilling
into our vast oil reserves. Our shale oil assets equal or
surpass all of the Middle East's reserves. Ours is a country
that runs on energy. This sad collection of politicians (Dems
and RINO's) and environmental nuts, are aggressively making it
more difficult to develop the very energy we need to grow our
industry and prosper.
With the gasoline lines of the 1970's in memory,
instead of energy independence, we have increased our
dependence. We have been forced to buy more and more oil from
foreign sources. Vast amounts of those dollars have flowed
into the coffers of countries who wish us ill, or, simply put,
want to destroy the USA.
Our willingness to not develop our own energy sources in the
name of the environment or any other reason is asinine. We are
now well over 35 years behind in developing our own energy.
At the moment, there is no viable clean
alternative energy source currently ready to market. Now there
is a lot of fantasy boutique combinations talked about
....such as taking a food staple and using it to compete as an
energy source. That drives up the cost of corn
(hello???). Never mind that the blend has it's own pollution
problems, more so than plain old gasoline.
This is a complex problem. Washington politicians have
not risen to the task. I do not have confidence in Congress.
Instead, just as with Social Security, they have kicked the
can down the road. Energy deprivation is a national security
issue and the clock is running.
